Reportaža: Xmas in New York
James živi v najemniškem stanovanju sredi New Yorka s cimro in mačkom. Je super fant in moj prijatelj in vedno, ko ga obiščem, prespim na njegovem kavču. Star je okoli 30 let in dela za Sony. Slovenski zapis v tejle reportaži je moj, ameriški pa njegov. V bistvu je James precej polnokrven mlad moški, a kot boste prebrali, se je za božično reportažo prikazal kot priden fant s sosednje ulice. Ker ne razume slovensko, bom nekaj intimnosti o njem razkril kar jaz. Vsa vprašanja in komentarje zanj napišite v angleščini.

I took the day off from work. With only a few days left until Christmas I had a ton of shopping to do, and not enough time. First stop: Macy’s. There is always a sale going on there, and it’s known for it’s Christmas window displays. Each window is a different theme. One window could be polar bears, the next could be about grandma’s christmas. Each year it’s different. The store is an entire city block long, so if they don’t have what your looking for, chances are you won’t find it. I managed to find some nice lotions for my mother in the cosmetics area.

One done. Next up, my sister. I ran to Times Square. I try and avoid Time Square as best I can. It’s always packed with people. My sister loves Broadway, and where else can you get tickets, but in the heart of Broadway. Deciding which show to see is another question. I settled on “Wicked”, a prequil of “The Wizard of Oz”, about the wicked witch of the West.
Hja, kot sem že napisal, je James, kot priden fant, vzel dan dopusta, da je nakupil božična darila za svojo družino. Njegova sestra in tudi James obožujeta Broadway in tudi mjuzikle. S tem sta okužila tudi mene. James je živahen, iskriv in zgovoren fant. Totalno pada na etno tip fantov in moških in na mešance. Ko pripoveduje o svojih pustolovščinah, prijateljih in ljubeznih se zdi, kot da je njegova soba del palače Združenih narodov. No, naj pridni James nadaljuje svojo božično zgodbo.

Two done. Next I headed over to 5th Ave. The shopping avenue of New York. You can find all the major stores here. On the way I passed Radio City Music Hall, and Rockefeller Center where the Christmas tree stands. After walking down 5th Ave. for about 20 minutes I settle on a store that sells watches. I don’t really shop for my two older brothers as they don’t come home for Christmas, so I figure since I was done, a nice walk around New York and through Central Park would be nice. I love taking pictures.

Tak je tale moj božični James. Prav za omožit. Je samski in zelo rad potuje. Pravkar se je vrnil iz Argentine. Verjamem, da je zdajle vsem nam toplo pri srcu. Obljubil je, da se nam bo iz “Velikega Jabolka” še oglasil.

Hi, Mr. James!
I’d like to wish you a Merry Christmas, and all at the best in the year comming. Your present shoping presentation was a nice way, to show, how a gratitude for a person close to, you can be done. In America, anyway. Here in Slovenia, we mostly don’t have reserves to buy nice presents for every one (thow some people tend to hire a loan). Personally, I think something like a smile, or a hug, can be just as valuable. Maybe even a look in to someones eyes. So, if you want to give a really nice present, at the following Christmas, then you te It.

Radio City Music Hall is a Concert Hall and part of Rockefeller Center. Behind this building you will find the Christmas Tree and the skaters. Right now Radio City Music Hall is showing the “Christmas Spectacular” where the “Rocketts” are dancing. Many singers/bands have concerts here such as Ricky Martin, Josh Groban, Shakira, and many others. One of our Television Networks Called NBC-Universal is also at Rockefeller Center. They offer tours of the studio, and you you can also go to the top of the 80 floor building. Maybe Iztok will do another picture blog of NYC after the holidays and I’ll send him some more pictures.
I wish I knew! It’s not easy dating in this city. There are 8 million people in the City alone, and we have a large gay community. I think the problem is that there are so many gay people here, that many gay men want to “sample the candy”. So you may get one date and never hear from the guy again because he has moved on to another cute guy they met online or in a bar. There is always someone moving here from other US states and countries. Also NYC is a big tourist city. Sometimes I meet guys in bars, or online and we meet up for dinner or drinks. Then I find out they don’t live here (in NY) and are leaving in a few days. So chances of any relationship are impossible.
This year we will not be having a white christmas. NYC is an island so the water regulates the temperatures,we have not had a white christmas in a very long time. It usually snows in January/February.
Why am I single??

I don’t have a boyfriend to buy gifts for, so I choose to spend money on my family. My two older brothers will not be home this year so I don’t have to buy them gifts. I know how to find good deals since I’ve lived in NYC for 7 years. There is always bargains and if you know how to work the system you can do very well for yourself. So I don’t spend as much as you may think!

Hi Denis, Yes, there are stars who perform on Broadway. I’m not sure anyone you’ve heard of is performing right now. In the past Julia Roberts, Susan Sarandon, and Jessica Lang to name just a few. Currently there are a lot of former American Idol and runner ups performing. As for Movies, the new releases are: I Am Legend (Will Smith), Alvin and the Chipmunks, The Golden Compass (Nicole Kidman), Enchanted (Patrick Dempsy), No Country for Old Men, The Perfect Holiday, Atonement, Juno, August Rush, Sweeny Todd (Johnny Depp), Owen Wilsons War (Julia Roberts), National Treasure (to name some).

Hi Nusa: I have never been to Slovenia. Yes, I would LOVE to visit one day. Right now as you know the dollar is not doing so well, and Slovenia is now using the Euro. This makes things a bit more pricey for me. I do have dreams of traveling around Slovenia though. Going to see the famous places like Bled, Koper/Piran,Ljublijana (to name a few) as well as the small towns and villages. I love to experience the culture of a country, and I love trying the native foods there!
I just got back from Argentina a couple weeks ago(the dollar is still good down there);) Each year I try and take one “big” trip, and if I can take one or two small domestic trips around the USA. I love to travel!
